Bank account (IMPS)

You must link a valid bank account to your Coinbase account in order to sell crypto. We use the IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) bank transfer system as the payment method to transfer funds to your bank account. Most bank accounts can be linked instantly and securely by providing an IFSC (Indian Financial System Code) or branch name when requested.

To link your bank account:

  1. Go to Payment methods on web or tap Profile & Settings on mobile.

  2. Select Add a payment method > Bank account.

  3. Enter your IFSC or branch name, then select Add bank account

  4. Enter and re-enter your bank account number, then select the account type.

  5. Select Confirm and test

Once you’ve submitted this information, we’ll instantly verify your bank account by making a small ₹1 deposit to your bank account.

Note that our processing payment partner’s name will appear on your bank statement.

Troubleshooting tips

If you try to link your bank account and you don’t receive the ₹1 verification deposit, please check that:

  • The name registered with the bank matches the name registered with the Coinbase account

  • The bank account is live and active on the IMPS network

Your bank account will be successfully linked to your account once this information is correct.

Managing your linked bank account

Can I add more than one bank account for withdrawals?

Yes, you can add multiple bank accounts as long as they are registered in your name.

Can I delete a linked bank account?

Yes. Go to Payment methods on the Coinbase website or mobile app, and select Remove by the bank account you want to unlink from your Coinbase account.

Important: Make sure you have at least one bank account linked to your Coinbase account so that you can withdraw the proceeds from your trades.
