XRP (XRP)

Given the SEC’s recent action against Ripple, trading on our XRP order books has been suspended in all regions. You're still able to deposit and withdraw XRP. While XRP funds will remain safely stored in your account after the trading suspension, you will not be able to buy, sell, or convert. There will be no impact to Coinbase Custody or Coinbase Wallet at this time. Learn more about Ripple SEC lawsuit

What is XRP (XRP)?

XRP is the cryptocurrency used by the XRP ledger, which supports international currency exchange and remittances. XRP can function as a bridge currency in transactions involving different currencies such as US dollars, Japanese yen, Euros, Francs, and others in use on the XRP network.

Can I send XRP to Coinbase?

Yes, however, XRP utilizes Destination Tag technology and a Destination Tag is required to send XRP to Coinbase. You must always include the correct Destination Tag before sending a deposit to Coinbase. Omitting or using an incorrect Destination Tag will cause a delay in crediting the transaction to your Coinbase account. Under certain circumstances, these funds may not be creditable. For more information on Destination Tags, visit our help page.

If you attempt to send XRP to Coinbase without a destination tag, your funds will not be received. Please contact the exchange that you sent the funds from for help.

What are the minimum and maximum withdrawal amounts?

Coinbase has implemented safeguards to ensure a healthy and efficient network both on-chain and through our platform.

These safeguards include both minimum and maximum amounts for each cryptocurrency we allow customers to send through the blockchain.

  • There is a 22 XRP withdrawal minimum to send XRP from Coinbase to an external address.
  • There is a 1,000,000 XRP withdrawal maximum to send XRP from Coinbase.com.
  • Customers are still able to send less than 1 XRP between Pro and Coinbase.com.

There is no minimum amount required to send funds to Coinbase. However, you’ll need to check the sending wallet or exchange for their limits when sending XRP to Coinbase.

Note: Coinbase does not support XRP Escrow transaction types. Any XRP transactions set up as an escrow using Coinbase’s XRP address will not be credited to your account.
