Coinbase Card allows residents to spend crypto (including USDC) and local currency wherever Visa cards are accepted. It can be used for both cash and cryptocurrency (crypto) transactions.
There’s no application fee or credit check during the application process.
Eligibility
To to be eligible for the Coinbase Card:
Reside in one of the following regions: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus,Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the UK.
Have a valid Coinbase account

Apply
To apply through Coinbase.com or the Coinbase mobile app:
Sign in to your Coinbase.com account or access the Coinbase mobile app.
Select Card from the navigation bar.
Follow the prompts to apply for your Coinbase Card.
You'll be asked to verify your address, and agree to legal disclosures.
Once you sign up, you'll be able to use your virtual card right away or order a physical card to use in person or at an ATM.
Delivery
To order your physical card, you'll be asked to verify your address as well as set up your PIN. Once completed, you’ll receive your physical card in 2-3 weeks. In the meantime, you can start using your virtual card in the Coinbase mobile app.

Once you’re approved for a Coinbase Card, you can begin using your virtual card. Use your card at Visa merchants, excluding specific categories.
Immediate online use
You can use your card immediately by viewing the number through your Coinbase account.
To view your card number:
Sign in to your Coinbase.com account or access the Coinbase mobile app.
Select Card from the navigation bar.
Display your card info.
Browser: Select Show card number.
Mobile app: Select Show card info.
Activate your physical card
To activate your physical card:
Sign in to your Coinbase.com account or access the Coinbase mobile app.
Select Card from the navigation bar.
Activate your card.
Browser: Select Activate Coinbase Card.
Mobile app: Select Activate your card.
Select Activate physical card.
Enter your card number and 3-digit CVV number.
Select Activate Card.
Personal Identification Number (PIN) set up
You may need to create a PIN in order to withdraw cash from an ATM.
To create/change a PIN:
Sign in to your Coinbase.com account or access the Coinbase mobile app.
Select Card from the navigation bar.
Select Set PIN.
Enter a 4-digit number and select Set PIN.
These steps can be followed to change your PIN in the future, too.
Funding Guidelines
To fund your Coinbase Card:
Sign in to your Coinbase.com account or access the Coinbase mobile app.
Select Card from the navigation bar.
Select Add Funds.
Select the amount to buy and your payment method, then choose Review Order.
Select Place Order.
Spending limits
Spending limits vary between customers. To check your card limits:
Sign in to your Coinbase.com account or access the Coinbase mobile app.
Select Card.
Select Support.
Select View spending and ATM limits.
Prohibited merchant categories
Coinbase Card can’t be used to make purchases for/from: securities broker-dealers, dating/escort services, massage parlors, gambling (including casinos), money orders, wire transfers, government owned lotteries, government licensed online casinos (online gambling), government licensed horse/dog racing, internet gambling, money services businesses, cryptocurrency businesses, firearm-related businesses (manufacturing and selling), marijuana-related businesses, or usage limits.
Restricted countries
Coinbase Card can't be used in: Afghanistan, Albania, Belarus, Central African Republic, China, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Myanmar (Burma), Nicaragua, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Turkey, Ukraine, Venezuela, Yemen, or Zimbabwe.

Request a new card
To request a new card at no cost:
Sign in to your Coinbase.com account or access the Coinbase mobile app.
Select Card from the navigation bar.
Select Coinbase Card support.
Select My card was lost or stolen or My card was damaged / doesn’t work.
Your card will be deactivated and a new one will be sent to you.
Update your billing address
Your billing address is used when completing online transactions with your card.
To update your billing address:
Sign in to your Coinbase.com account or access the Coinbase mobile app.
Select Card from the navigation bar.
Select Coinbase Card support.
Select My billing address has changed.
Enter your new address and select Submit.
Change your name
To update the name on your card:
Report your card as lost or stolen and request a new card.
Change your PIN
To create/change a PIN:
Sign in to your Coinbase.com account or access the Coinbase mobile app.
Select Card from the navigation bar.
Select Set PIN.
Enter a 4-digit number and select Set PIN.
These steps can be followed to change your PIN in the future, too.
Change your funding balance
To change the funding balance:
Sign in to your Coinbase.com account or access the Coinbase mobile app.
Select Card from the navigation bar.
Select Change asset.
Select the asset you’d like to spend and choose Submit.

Identity wasn't verified during your initial Coinbase Card application
Solution:
Sign in to your Coinbase account or access the Coinbase mobile app.
Access the Document Verification prompt.
Select your preferred identity document type and upload method.
Follow the on-screen instructions then select Upload.
You’ll receive an email confirmation when the verification has completed.
Spending balance is lower than your asset balance
Solution:Deposits using a linked bank account are available for buying and selling, but for security reasons, you will be unable to immediately withdraw these funds, spend them using Coinbase Card, or send from Coinbase.You can see when deposited funds will be available for withdrawal or spending prior to authorizing a purchase or deposit, as well as on the confirmation email for the transaction. Check the transaction confirmation email or your account to know when deposited funds will be available.
Pending amount is larger than your transaction
Solution: Certain merchants, like gas stations and car rentals, might initially authorize a higher amount. Excess funds are returned to your spending balance at the market price by re-buying crypto on your behalf.
Transaction was declined
Solution: Check for insufficient funds, exceeding the daily limit, prohibited merchant categories, or high risk transaction status.
Dispute charges
Solution: Start by contacting the merchant for a resolution. It can take up to 10 days for merchant-initiated refunds to settle. You can find the status of your transaction by accessing the asset balance and selecting the transaction line item.
Taking action to keep your Coinbase Card secure is important and may be necessary. Here are some scenarios to consider and what you can do.

You can’t find your card or you have a security concern (e.g. unauthorized charge). | Temporarily lock your card: 1. Sign in to your Coinbase.com account or access the Coinbase mobile app. 2. Select Card from the navigation bar. 3. Select Lock card. No new transactions can be made. We’ll notify you if someone tries to use your card when it’s locked. Unlock your card when you’re ready to use it again. |
You can spend local currency, USD Coin (USDC), or any supported crypto on Coinbase using your Coinbase Card without incurring any transaction fees. However, there are other fees and taxes to be aware of.
Coinbase does include a spread in the price to buy or sell cryptocurrencies. This allows us to temporarily lock in a price for trade execution while you review the transaction details prior to submitting your transaction.
ATM Withdrawals
You can withdraw cash from ATMs using your Coinbase Card with no fees from Coinbase; however, the ATM may charge a fee.
