Recover unsupported crypto

Coinbase provides a secure platform for crypto transactions, but doesn’t evaluate whether unsupported assets are authentic, safe, or secure.

Customers are responsible for their own due diligence regarding research, and we encourage them to exercise caution when transacting.

Coinbase isn’t liable for any loss of funds but assists in asset recovery where possible.

Asset recovery service

Only certain assets and networks are eligible for recovery. Coinbase customers may recover lost funds for certain assets and send them to a self-custodial wallet.

Attempting to recover an ineligible asset or recovery via an ineligible network will lead to an error message, and you’ll be unable to recover funds.

Recoveries greater than $100 incur a 5% fee applied to the amount over $100. Network fees also apply and are deducted from your Ethereum balance. You can purchase or convert Ethereum in your Coinbase account to cover any fees.

Recover your lost assets

Asset recovery is only available from a web browser.

  1. Visit the Asset recovery page and select Continue to begin recovery.

  2. Select the transaction network, then enter the transaction ID and address you sent the asset to. Choose Continue.

  3. Once the transaction is found, select Continue.

  4. Connect your self-custodial wallet.

    • If you don’t have one, you can create a new one with Coinbase Wallet.

  5. Review the summary and associated fees, then select Continue to complete the transaction.

Recovery troubleshooting

Account settings

  • If allowlisting is active on your account, the address you're sending to must be allowlisted.

Account verification

  • If your phone doesn't receive the authorization prompt when you connect the wallet, restarting the wallet app usually resolves the issue.

Forgot transaction details

  • If you don't recall the address, search your crypto addresses on the relevant block explorer to find the lost transaction.

  • If you don't recall the asset, use the block explorer associated with the transaction to search the address the funds were sent to or from. Check the results for transactions involving unsupported assets.

Processing and delays

  • Transactions must undergo the standard network confirmation process. Security or network congestion may delay the process. Track the progress using the link in your confirmation email.
