What to do if your transaction has been delayed

If you are experiencing a delay with your outgoing transaction, this is caused by one of the security features on your account and we can provide you with some information to explain the process:

Coinbase implements security features to protect our customers, and a combination of several factors can flag a transaction as suspicious.

As a way to protect our customers, these security features will trigger an automatic delay of 72 hours to the sender to ensure the transaction has been authorized by you.

If you DID NOT authorize the transaction:

  1. Immediately disable sign-in on your Coinbase account using the link previously sent to you in the “delay notification” email AND

  2. Alert us by sending an email from the following page, selecting "Account Hacked" as the category:

If you DID authorize the transaction:

  1. Take no action and the transaction will complete after 72 hours OR

  2. You can accelerate this security hold period by providing additional identification.

Go to the following page, select your crypto wallet, and select the "Accelerate Withdrawal" button to complete ID verification.

When the additional verification is successfully completed, your transaction will be sent. This verification cannot be completed using the mobile app, you will need to proceed via browser.

When uploading your photo ID:

  • Ensure your webcam permissions are set correctly for your browser. We recommend using an up-to-date version of the Chrome browser.

  • Make sure all the information on the ID is visible.

  • Ensure the app you use to take the pictures does not add any extra designs or watermarks.

If you experience any trouble completing verification, please see our help center article for tips.
