Updating user roles and permissions

With Coinbase Prime, clients will have the ability to assign roles to each teammate within each portfolio for separation of duties. Each role has a unique set of permissions. Roles can be the same for each individual teammate across all portfolios, or tailored so each individual's role is different in every portfolio.

Some roles, like Initiator, allow you to initiate transactions and account changes, while other roles, like Trader, allow you to execute crypto trades in the market. Every role plays a unique position within each portfolio. The Team Manager is the only role with the ability to update and assign roles.

Update, edit, or add roles as the Team Manager

  1. Sign in to Prime and navigate to the username and portfolio icon in the top right corner of your screen
  2. Click on the name or icon to bring up the Portfolio menu
  3. Go to your settings page by clicking on the gear icon next to your profile image
  4. Once in the settings page, click the Team Members tab
  5. Click the three-dot menu next to the teammate you'd like to edit
  6. Click edit

This will bring up a modal for the team member you selected

  1. Select the dropdown under Role

  2. Choose the role you'd like for this team member for that particular portfolio, or choose Customize Role Across Portfolios—this will allow you customize roles across all portfolios

  3. Select the roles you'd like to change for each portfolio by selecting the dropdown menu under each portfolio name

  4. Once you've made your changes, click Done

You'll once again see the Edit Team Member modal

  1. Click Continue

  2. If the user information looks correct for that team member, click Confirm Changes

  3. You'll then need to authenticate with your YubiKey and wait for approvals to reach consensus for these changes

You can track approvals by going to the Activity page

  1. Click the Account tab

  2. You'll see the status of approvals under Pending Approvals

To update your Authorized User List, which is the list of teammates who have access to the Prime account, you need to request a new Authorized User List from the Prime Operations team. Once you have the list, fill it out, and send it back to us.
