Add a Custom EVM Network on the Onchain Wallet

The Onchain Wallet supports only the blockchain protocols listed on the site. Coinbase assumes no responsibility for attempts to use the Onchain Wallet with unsupported blockchain protocols.

While Coinbase may provide clients with the ability to locally configure custom networks to store, send, request, or receive digital assets associated with unsupported networks or blockchain protocols, these custom networks are not considered supported networks for Onchain Wallet. As a result, some features will be unavailable and balances for such unsupported networks will only be visible within the browser extension of client users who have configured the network locally. These balances will not appear in the Coinbase Prime interface, in Onchain Wallet reports, or on the browser extensions of other client users.

Coinbase reserves the right to terminate support for any particular network or blockchain protocol at its sole discretion. To reduce the risk of losing funds, we recommend sending a small test transaction when interacting with locally configured custom networks.

We are excited to announce that you can now add custom EVM networks using the Prime Onchain Wallet. This feature allows you to configure your own EVM network settings locally within the Prime extension. This capability extends the functionality of your wallet, enabling you to create and manage transactions on EVM chains not natively supported by Coinbase, thereby broadening your access to various blockchain networks.

Please note, this configuration is done locally on the Prime Onchain Wallet extension. Coinbase does not store this data and does not fully support these networks. As a result, balances for these networks will not appear on the Prime website nor be included in the Prime Onchain Reports.

  1. Select Settings within the Prime Onchain Wallet Chrome extension

  2. Choose Networks

3. Click the plus sign (+) in the top righthand corner

4. Enter the name of the network, RPC URL, Chain ID and block explorer (optional)

5. Click Save

1. Select Connect Wallet within the specific onchain application

2. Log in to the Prime Onchain Chrome extension using your Prime credentials

3. Click the Connect button

4. Press Switch network

Since these custom EVM networks are not fully supported on the Onchain Wallet, users must add a token contract to view the notional balance within the Prime Onchain Wallet extension.

Add a Token Contract

  1. Log in to the Prime Onchain Wallet extension using your Prime credentials

  2. Navigate to Settings

  3. Select the wallet name you would like to edit

4. Choose Hide assets

5. Press the plus sign [+] in the top righthand corner

6. Enter the Token Contract Address, Token Symbol and Token Decimal

7. Click Save

Once completed, you will be able to view the notional balance within the Prime Onchain Wallet extension.

Please be aware the following features are not supported for activities conducted on a custom EVM network:

  • Balance updates within the Prime website, Onchain Reports and on the browser extensions of other client users

  • Transaction simulation capabilities in the Prime Onchain Wallet extension and Coinbase Prime Approvals mobile app

  • Asset changes on activities within the Prime website and the Coinbase Prime Approvals mobile app
