Tezos (XTZ) FAQ


As of August 5,2019 Coinbase has added Tezos (XTZ) to our supported assets. What is Tezos (XTZ)? 

Tezos (XTZ) is a blockchain platform designed to support smart contracts and decentralized applications. Its features include a formal verification system (proof-of-stake), designed to enable a transparent, democratic stakeholder community.

What is Proof-of-Stake?

Proof-of-stake is a type of consensus algorithm by which a cryptocurrency blockchain network aims to achieve distributed consensus. Please note that although this is a feature of Tezos, proof-of-stake/staking and voting are not currently supported on Coinbase Pro.

Coinbase has implemented safeguards to ensure a healthy and efficient network both on-chain and through our platform.  

These safeguards include both minimum and maximum amounts for each cryptocurrency we allow customers to send through the blockchain.
