Margin accounts are offered through Coinbase Capital Markets (CCM) and allow for greater flexibility over your buying power when trading eligible assets.
Margin accounts are for eligible US customers on Coinbase’s default interface.
Margin account types
Limited margin
A limited margin account lets you use unsettled proceeds to trade eligible assets without borrowing money. You cannot withdraw unsettled proceeds until they settle, generally one business day after the trade ends (T+1).
Margin investing (not yet available)
A margin investing account allows you to purchase equities, or withdraw cash, with borrowed money, leveraging your equity positions as collateral. Margin trading involves risk and is not suitable for all investors.

You can apply to switch your cash account to a limited margin account. Approval is subject to suitability requirements.
