At Coinbase, we’re always looking to improve our products and better understand our customers. Occasionally, we invite Coinbase users and even non-users to participate in research studies to share their thoughts and feedback.
How to participate
If you receive an invitation to a research study, follow the instructions in the email to join.
For ongoing opportunities, including pre-release access to ideas in development, you can apply to join our User Panel.
If any preparation is needed for a study, details will be included in the research invitation. Otherwise, no extra steps are required.
Verify research invitations
All emails will come from @mail.coinbase.com or @coinbase.com. Double-check the domain to avoid scams.
Occasionally, we may display banners on our website or app to recruit participants.
Coinbase will never ask for your login information, passwords, or for you to send cryptocurrency. If we request contact information, it’s only for communication or compensation purposes.
If you’re uncertain about an invitation’s legitimacy, forward it to security@coinbase.com for verification.
What to expect
Each study is unique and may include:
Sharing your opinions on ideas or designs
Discussing your past experiences with Coinbase products
Exploring prototypes or completing surveys
There are no right or wrong answers. We’re focused on your honest feedback and experiences. If anything seems unclear or challenging, it’s an opportunity for us to improve, not a test for you.
Studies may involve video chats, online surveys, or interactive prototypes using safe and trusted tools. Always hover over links to confirm their destination before clicking.
Your data and privacy
Your personal identity is not the focus of our research. While we may request contact information to coordinate sessions or send compensation, personal details are rarely relevant to our studies.
All information is stored anonymously behind a secure firewall and is only accessible to Coinbase employees for research purposes.
Before participating, you’ll usually sign an agreement ensuring the session’s discussions remain confidential.
Compensation
One-on-one research sessions, such as video chats or phone calls, are compensated and you’ll be informed of the payment amount before you sign up.
Compensation is usually provided as an Amazon gift card via email, though we may also offer Bitcoin or waived transaction fees.
Online surveys and panel participation are not compensated, but you may be invited to paid follow-up opportunities.
