Apply to buy in prediction markets

Coinbase Financial Markets is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and National Futures Association (NFA) which means there are rules and regulations that apply to buying in prediction markets. Collecting Social Security numbers (SSN) or Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is one of those requirements. All data is encrypted and kept private. Additionally, you may be required to verify your identity before prediction markets buying is available.

Application qualifications include age, trading experience, occupation, income, and net worth.

Eligibility for trading certain products is determined by assessing whether those products are suitable for you. This suitability assessment may consider several factors, including your trading objectives (such as your goals, time horizon, and risk tolerance), your knowledge and experience with the specific product you want to trade, and your financial situation (for example, your income, net worth, and ability to bear potential losses). These items are examples and may not be an exhaustive list of all factors reviewed.

  • Age.

Nevada residents:

The Nevada State Gaming Control Board has issued a temporary restraining order against Coinbase, halting the operation of prediction markets in the state. If you have open positions, you may hold them until close and any winnings will be deposited into your primary account, as normal. You may also sell them.

We are working to restore prediction markets for Nevada customers as soon as possible.
