I was approved for U.S. Derivatives but can't trade. Why? Someone on your team needs to finish setup in Prime. See Enable U.S. Derivatives trading on Coinbase Prime.
Why was my order rejected when I entered more than 1,000 contracts? Coinbase Derivatives Exchange caps each order at 1,000 contracts for most products (5,000 for BTC and ETH). Split larger trades into multiple orders.
Can I trade calendar spreads? Not yet. Roll positions by trading each leg separately.
Why do my fees show on the next day's statement? Fees are calculated at the 5 PM ET cutoff and settle on the next business day.
Why did my funding P&L drop overnight? The day's funding moved into your cash balance at 5 PM ET, and accrued funding P&L resets to zero.
Can I see hourly funding payments? No. You can only see your total intraday accrued funding P&L. Funding is calculated hourly per product, per portfolio, and posts once a day as a single net payment per product, per portfolio.
Can I use USDC as margin? USD is used for margin. With Auto-Convert USDC turned on, USDC in your Derivatives Funding Portfolio can be converted to USD to meet a margin call.
Why is my excess margin not being returned? Check that Auto-Return Excess Margin is on, and remember that cash up to your Weekend Buying Power target is kept in your futures account. Transfers run only on business days.
Why don't my entity and portfolio statements match? The entity statement includes cash moved to meet margin calls across all portfolios. See Statements and reports for U.S. Derivatives.
How are U.S. Derivatives taxed? We can't give tax advice. See Taxes on Coinbase Prime, and talk to your tax advisor.
