Wallets on the Base app are user-controlled, self-custody products. The recovery phrase gives you—and only you—access to your wallet. For your security, Coinbase will never access your recovery phrase. We can't move crypto or help you access your digital assets if you lose it.
If someone gains access to your recovery phrase, they can access the funds in your wallet. Neither Coinbase nor anyone else can stop a scammer from stealing funds in this case.
If your recovery phrase is compromised, immediately send your balance to a secure address. Create a new wallet and transfer your funds there. We can’t generate a new key for your new wallet.
App Lock
The Base app currently offers an App Lock feature to help secure your account.
Enable App Lock:
Go to Settings from the Assets tab.
Under the Security section, select Security Lock.
In Lock method, toggle the requirement you want to enable.
Select at least one option under Require unlock when:
Opening the app
Making a transaction
To change your lock method, tap the option at the top and choose between the biometric or passcode options. This ensures you retain access to your account if you forget or lose access to your passcode.
