Set up a USDC loan

With a crypto-backed loan, eligible customers can borrow USDC using their crypto assets as collateral.

  • Choose between a variable-rate loan or a fixed-rate loan when you set up the loan.

  • The interest rate and borrowing limits are shown in the Coinbase mobile app.

  • Loans are limited to $15M.

Stake and borrow with SOL

In the Coinbase mobile app, you can stake and wrap SOL as part of setting up a loan. In the SOL market within Borrow, turn on Stake and borrow to have Coinbase stake your SOL, wrap it into Jito Staked SOL (JitoSOL), and use JitoSOL as collateral.

  • Toggle off: Your loan uses SOL you already hold as collateral, depending on your holdings.

  • Toggle on: Coinbase stakes and wraps your SOL into JitoSOL, then uses the JitoSOL as collateral.

Your loan-to-value (LTV) ratio, annual percentage rate (APR), and liquidation threshold reflect the collateral used. SOL and JitoSOL may have different collateral terms. You must meet the standard staking and wrapping eligibility requirements to use Stake and borrow.

Opt in or out of fixed-to-variable conversion

Opt in to have your fixed-rate loan automatically converted to variable rate 6 hours before maturity, avoiding liquidation.

  • To opt in, select the rollover date from the loan management page, then select Rollover at maturity.

    • You'll receive a confirmation, along with your new APR, and the conversion appears in your loan's transaction history.

    • Conversion is subject to loan health and isn't guaranteed if the variable-rate market doesn't have enough liquidity at the time of maturity.

  • To opt out, select the rollover date from the loan management page, then select Don't roll over at maturity.

    • Opting out means your fixed-rate loan becomes eligible for liquidation if it isn't repaid by maturity.
