Set up multiple source wallets with an Anchorage Digital account

Overview

Multiple source wallets let you pay stakeholders from per-stakeholder source wallets in your Anchorage Digital account, instead of paying every stakeholder from your company’s default vault. This article covers the self-serve setup an administrator performs in Coinbase Token Manager to configure grants that pay from multiple source wallets.

Multiple source wallets are useful when:

  • Different investors, contributors, or cohorts each hold their tokens in dedicated Anchorage vault wallets.

  • Your legal or accounting structure requires that payouts to a given stakeholder always come from a specific source wallet.

  • You want to eliminate the manual, one-by-one transfers required when funding sources are split across multiple Anchorage wallets.

This article assumes your Anchorage Digital account is already integrated with Coinbase Token Manager. If you haven’t integrated yet, visit Anchorage Digital Account Integration Setup Guide.

Before you begin

  • Your Anchorage Digital account is connected to Coinbase Token Manager, and your External Transfers (Coinbase Token Manager) permission group and API key are active.

  • The source wallets you intend to use exist in the Anchorage vault connected to your Coinbase Token Manager account.

  • The destination (stakeholder) wallets have been added as Trusted Destinations in Anchorage and are included in your External Transfers permission group.

  • You are signed in to Coinbase Token Manager as an administrator.

How source wallet routing works

For every token grant, Coinbase Token Manager uses one of two possible sources for the payout:

  • Grant-level source wallet — a specific Anchorage vault wallet assigned to the stakeholder’s profile and referenced on the grant. Payouts route from that wallet.

  • Default company vault — if no source wallet is assigned, the grant falls back to the company vault as the source.

Both types of grants appear on the Payouts screen. The Source column indicates which wallet each payout will route from.

Step 1 — Add source wallets to the stakeholder’s profile

  • Sign in to Coinbase Token Manager and go to the Stakeholders page.

  • Edit the stakeholder profile (or create a new one) and navigate to the source-wallet step.

  • In the Source wallets section, select Add source wallet.

  • Enter the wallet address of the Anchorage vault wallet that should fund this stakeholder’s grants.

  • Coinbase Token Manager checks whether the wallet address belongs to the Anchorage vault connected to your Coinbase Token Manager account:

    • If the wallet is not in the vault connected to your Coinbase Token Manager account, an error is shown. Correct the address and try again.

    • If the wallet is in the vault connected to your Coinbase Token Manager account, the system displays the vault name and Anchorage vault ID so you can verify you added the correct wallet.

  • Repeat for any additional source wallets this stakeholder should be able to use.

  • Save the stakeholder profile.

Safety check: The vault name and ID display is a safety check — if the returned details do not match the wallet you intended to add, remove it and re-enter the correct address.

Step 2 — Assign a source wallet during grant creation

Important: Source wallets are assigned to a grant at creation time only. You cannot edit the source wallet on an existing grant — contact tm-support@coinbase.com if you need to change the source wallet on a grant that already exists.

For a new grant:

  • Go to the Token grants page and start a new grant for the stakeholder.

  • In the grant’s Source wallet field, open the dropdown.

  • The dropdown lists only the source wallets already assigned to this stakeholder’s profile. You cannot select another stakeholder’s source wallet.

  • Choose the wallet that should fund this grant.

  • If you leave this field empty, the grant will fall back to the default company vault as the source.

  • Complete the rest of the grant setup and save.

Step 3 — Verify the Source column on the Payouts screen

  • Go to the Payouts page.

  • In the row for each newly created grant with a source wallet, review the Source column.

  • Confirm the source matches what you intended:

    • A specific vault wallet name → the grant will route from that wallet.

    • “Company Vault” (or equivalent) → the grant will fall back to the default company vault.

  • If the source is not what you expected, contact tm-support@coinbase.com to request a source wallet change.

Ongoing maintenance

  • For every new stakeholder you add, assign at least one source wallet on their profile.

  • When you add a new source wallet in Anchorage, add it as a Trusted Destination in the External Transfers permission group before assigning it to any stakeholder — see the Anchorage Digital Account Integration Setup Guide for details.

  • If a stakeholder’s funding source changes, existing grants cannot be edited — contact tm-support@coinbase.com to request a source wallet change on the customer’s behalf.
