This article addresses international perpetuals (derivatives) available outside of the United States. Learn more about Coinbase’s Derivatives products on the Derivatives help page.
Perpetual futures are futures contracts with no expiry date that seek to replicate the performance of an underlying spot asset.

Wholesale investors (Australia)
In Australia, this product is currently only available to wholesale investors.
Australian customers who qualify as wholesale investors can trade with up to 50x leverage. To qualify, provide a certificate during onboarding from a qualified accountant issued within the last two years confirming you meet one of these criteria:
You have net assets of at least AUD $2.5 million.
You have gross income of at least AUD $250,000 annually for the last two financial years.
The name on the certificate must match the name on your Coinbase account.
Certification must be renewed every 2 years to maintain wholesale status. In-app renewal reminders are sent 90 days before expiration. If it expires, you’ll be moved to liquidation-only mode and only allowed to close existing positions or sell assets to reduce exposure (until a new qualifying certificate is submitted).
