Send and receive crypto

When sending or receiving cryptocurrency, be sure to select the correct network or your funds will be lost. Learn more about multiple networks.

You can send and receive supported cryptocurrencies through your Coinbase account. All sends to cryptocurrency addresses are irreversible.

Before you send:

  • Double check that the cryptocurrency address is correct

  • Make sure you have enough cryptocurrency in your balance

  • Sends to a Coinbase user who has not opted into Instant sends will be made on-chain and incur network fees

  • Sends to a non-Coinbase user will be made on-chain, sent on the respective currency's network, and incur network fees 

To send cryptocurrency:

  1. Tap Migrated from https://help.coinbase.com/content/dam/help/articles/consumer/icons/Send.png, updated at Mon Apr 11 2022 12:52:36 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time) Send.  

  2. Select the asset.

  3. Select a contact or enter a recipient's email, phone number, cryptocurrency address, ENS, or QR code.

  4. Enter the amount (you can toggle between the cash or cryptocurrency amounts).

  5. Select the network you’d like to send on, if applicable (only available for assets that are supported on multiple networks).

  6. Tap Preview.

  7. Follow the remaining prompts.

Before you receive: Coinbase cannot be used to receive ETH or ETC mining rewards. 

To receive cryptocurrency:

  1. Tap Migrated from https://help.coinbase.com/content/dam/help/articles/consumer/icons/Receive.png, updated at Mon Apr 11 2022 12:52:36 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time) Receive.

  2. Review the prompts and tap I understand.

  3. Select the asset you'd like to receive (if the screen defaults to a specific asset, tap on the asset name to be given the option to select a different asset).

  4. Select the network that you'd like to receive on, if applicable (only available for assets that are supported on multiple networks).

  5. The sender can scan your QR code, or you can copy and share your address.
