CGLD is migrating to CELO
The Celo L1 blockchain (CGLD) is migrating to Celo L2 on January 16, 2025. Coinbase will not support the migration from Celo L1 to Celo L2. Due to migration by hard fork, all users must withdraw CGLD from Coinbase by January 13, 2025 to prevent funds from becoming inaccessible.
What should you expect?
Starting January 16, 2025, when the hard fork is executed the Celo L1 network will cease producing blocks and users will no longer be able to send or receive assets on the Celo L1 network.
To prevent funds from becoming inaccessible, users are required to withdraw all CGLD from Coinbase prior to the withdrawal deadline of January 13, 2025. All funds remaining on Coinbase after this deadline will become inaccessible.
Please note that while Coinbase lists the Celo L1 network as CGLD, other wallets and exchanges list Celo L1 as CELO. Sending CGLD from Coinbase to a CELO wallet address is compatible. A list of self-custody wallets supporting CELO can be found here: https://docs.celo.org/wallet.
