Fees for U.S. Derivatives

Derivatives Trading on Coinbase Prime › U.S. Derivatives

What you pay

Each futures trade can include:

  • Commission: CFM's fee, set in your fee schedule when you onboard. It may be an absolute fee per contract or basis points on notional.

  • Exchange fees: Charged by the exchange and clearing house and passed through at cost. See Coinbase Derivatives Exchange fees.

  • NFA regulatory fee: No NFA regulatory fee is applied to U.S. Derivatives trades.

Your rates are in your fee schedule and can be viewed in Prime under Settings › Billing › Plans & Fees. For questions about your rates, contact your Account Manager.

When fees are charged

Fees are added up at the 5 PM ET end-of-day cutoff on the trade date (T) and settled on the next business day (T+1), the same way margin calls work. So fees show up in your balance on the next day's statement, not the trade date.

Fees are included in the end-of-day margin calculation, so they can add to a margin call.

Where to see fees

  • Daily and monthly FCM statements: a full breakdown of commissions and fees.

  • Prime UI: a fee breakdown in the order details on the Activity page.
