Consensus for Web3 Wallet

Coinbase Prime provides institutional grade security features to ensure you can tailor your transaction controls to fit your needs.

The Prime Web3 Wallet has enhanced consensus controls through the Web3 policy engine. This allows you to set a consensus for your portfolio and apply custom settings to control transaction approvals. Each portfolio will have their own consensus settings. Changing consensus settings in one portfolio will not affect consensus in another portfolio. Please see this article for how custom rules apply and relate to existing consensus.

If you do not set a specific web3 consensus, your web3 consensus will follow your portfolio’s general consensus setting.

To edit the consensus setting for a rule:

  1. Sign in to Coinbase Prime.

  2. On the left-hand side of the page, click the Settings gear.

  3. Click the Web3 planet icon to open the Web3 Security Settings

  4. In the Policy Engine Tab  click on Manage

Consensus rules are configured differently between Web3 Transactions (onchain operations) and Web3 Messages signing (typically used to connect to some dapps, authenticate, or can transfer assets with for example seaport protocol.)

  1. Click the pencil icon next to the rule you want to change and adjust the consensus in the “Outcomes” section

  2. Click Add Rule if you want to add more rules

  3. Click Update

  4. Click Review Changes

  5. Verify your identity with your YubiKey.

Once the request is approved with your General Approval consensus setting, your web3 consensus will be updated.
