Coinbase Wallet

Manage wallets in Coinbase Wallet

Coinbase Wallet supports multiple wallets under a single account. You can create new wallets, import existing ones, and switch between them instantly. Each active wallet shows its own portfolio, transactions, and identity.

You can have up to 10 wallets in Coinbase Wallet at a time (created and imported combined), and can check which type a given wallet is from that wallet's settings page. Smart wallets and mnemonic wallets that don't have an email or social sign-in method attached can't be recovered if you lose your passkey or recovery phrase — back these up carefully.

Switch between wallets

Tap your avatar on the home screen to open the wallet switcher. Select any wallet in the list to make it the active wallet. The app re-scopes immediately; your portfolio, transactions, and identity update to reflect the selected wallet.

Create a wallet

  1. Access Coinbase Wallet.

  2. Tap your avatar to open the wallet switcher.

  3. Select Add Wallet.

  4. Select Create Wallet.

  5. Follow the steps to set up your new wallet.

Your new wallet is added to the wallet list and is ready to use.

Import a wallet

You can import an existing wallet using a recovery phrase or a passkey.

Import using a recovery phrase

  1. Access Coinbase Wallet.

  2. Tap your avatar to open the wallet switcher.

  3. Select Add Wallet.

  4. Select Import Wallet.

  5. Select Import Recovery Phrase.

  6. Read the scam safety warning and confirm each statement before continuing.

  7. Enter your 12-word recovery phrase in the correct order.

  8. Select Import.

Your wallet is imported and added to the wallet list. If the same recovery phrase is linked to multiple wallets, all associated wallets are imported. Importing a large number of wallets may take several minutes to complete.

Import using a passkey

  1. Access Coinbase Wallet.

  2. Tap your avatar to open the wallet switcher.

  3. Select Add Wallet.

  4. Select Import Wallet.

  5. Select Import Passkey.

  6. Follow the steps to authenticate with your passkey.

Importing a passkey imports all wallets linked to that passkey's associated email or social account.

Sync wallets from legacy mode

If you have existing wallets in legacy mode, you can sync them to Coinbase Wallet by going to Settings, then selecting Sync My Wallets.
