Base account spend permissions

Spend permissions allow you to authorize apps to withdraw and spend tokens on your behalf, enabling new app experiences.

Only approve spend permissions for apps you trust.

When an app requests spend permissions:

  1. Review the amount, frequency, and the start and end dates you authorize via the spend permission in the prompt.

  2. Select Allow to approve the permissions.

  3. Sign with your passkey to finalize.

Once the spend permission expires, the app may prompt you to renew your permission.

Revoke spend permissions:

  1. Sign in to your Base account by web browser.

  2. From Settings, select Settings for your Base Account.

  3. Select Manage permissions.

  4. Choose the app you want to manage.

  5. Select the permission you’d like to revoke.

  6. Review the details and select Revoke.

  7. Sign with your passkey to finalize.

You need sufficient funds in your Base account to cover the network fee to revoke spend permissions.

App accounts

Some apps will prompt you to create an app account - a separate sub-account linked to your primary Base Account specifically for use with an individual app.

App accounts are controlled by both your Base Account and a signer in the app. This means the app can sign for your app account without any prompting from you.

You should only use app accounts with apps that you trust, as the app will be able to access and transfer any funds held in the app account.  The app account can only access funds in your primary Base Account if it has a spend permission.

Manage app accounts and revoke access

  1. Access your Base Account by web browser.

  2. Select Connected apps.

  3. Find and select the app you’d like to manage.

  4. To revoke the app account’s spend permissions, select the app’s Spend permissions tab and choose Revoke.

  5. Sign with your passkey to finalize.

You can adjust an app account’s spend limits from within the associated app.
