Portfolio Creation

Accounts that are onboarded for Prime are permitted to create additional portfolios. Creating a new portfolio means setting up an additional pool of assets under the same entity, with its own balances, permissions, and configuration. This lets you separate capital by strategy, desk, fund, or geography, and control which users and policies apply to each portfolio independently.

Roles and Permissions

Note: Only users with entity level initiation permissions will be able to create portfolios. See more at our Roles and Permissions page.

Step 1: From the Existing Account Portfolio Page, Select Settings

Step 2: In the top Right, you will select Create Portfolio and input the name > Continue

Step 3: Select the desired Wallet Type (optional depending on your Prime account setup)

  • Note: All portfolios also include Vault functionality to support offline segregated storage of 300+ assets in a qualified custodian, plus staking and governance for select assets.

Step 4: Review the Portfolio Policy, Transfer Approvals, and Team Members of the Portfolio > Continue

  • Note: All Entity Level users will be added to the new portfolio. Users that need to be added or removed can be done once the portfolio is created. Additionally, portfolio policy and transfer approvals will default to 51% and can be edited after the portfolio.

Step 5: A Summary of the portfolio to be created will appear > Select Create Portfolio and touch your security key

  • Note: This will require entity level consensus to be met before the portfolio is created.

Step 6 (Optional): If needed, you can edit the Transfer Approvals and Users:
