With prediction markets, you can buy and sell contracts for the outcome of future events.
There’s a limit on the number of contracts you can hold, based on the financial information you certify. Your maximum applies per market, counting both filled contracts and open orders, and it may change with market conditions.
Note: Prediction markets are available to U.S. residents only, excluding Nevada. Traveling abroad does not affect access.
Buy contracts for an outcome
An outcome is a possible answer to a market’s question. You can’t buy both sides of the same open market at once. Each outcome’s price reflects how likely it is to happen, based on recent contract activity in that market.
Note that funds deposited into your Coinbase account may be subject to temporary holds and might not be available for immediate loan payments.

To buy contracts for an outcome:
Sign in to your Coinbase.com account.
Fund your USD or USDC balance through your Coinbase.com account (primary). Use your primary balance to top up your predictions balance if needed.
Select Predictions and choose a market.
Review the market details and outcome determination rules.
Enter the amount of USD or USDC to spend (enough to buy at least one contract) or the amount of contracts.
Select your outcome: Yes (it will happen) or No (it won’t happen).
Review the transaction details and select Buy.
To buy contracts for an outcome:
Sign in to your Coinbase.com account.
Fund your USD or USDC balance through your Coinbase.com account (primary). Use your primary balance to top up your predictions balance if needed.
Select Predictions and choose a market.
Review the market details and outcome determination rules.
Enter the amount of USD or USDC to spend (enough to buy at least one contract) or the amount of contracts.
Select your outcome: Yes (it will happen) or No (it won’t happen).
Review the transaction details and select Buy.
Sell early
If you don’t want to wait until the market closes, you can sell your contract early. You cannot sell the contract of an outcome after the market closes. If you plan to move out of the U.S., sell any contracts for open events beforehand.

Select Predictions and choose the share you want to sell.
Select Sell and enter the number of contracts to sell.
Review the transaction details and select Sell.

Troubleshooting
Must be a U.S. resident: Prediction markets buying and selling are only available while you are a U.S. resident. Keep your address and country up to date.
Moved and can’t access your portfolio: If you have any active contracts or unfulfilled orders and no longer reside in the U.S., Coinbase Financial Markets will liquidate your contracts and close your orders for you.
Must adhere to rules and regulations: Failure to follow rules and regulations in your account agreement may result in account closure.
