Troubleshoot payment method addition

For troubleshooting steps related to payment method, choose the payment method you want to add below.

For card verification, Coinbase sends two test charges of between 1.01 and 1.99 in your local currency. If these test transactions are not visible, try again, or:

  • Review pending or processing charges with your card issuer.

  • After 24 hours, ask your card issuer about any pending Coinbase authorizations, or if the charges have been blocked.

Note:

  • 1.00 charges are caused by the card processing network and are not used for verification.

  • We will cancel the verification charges and they will disappear after 10 business days.

3D Secure Card addition

Your card must be 3D Secure enabled. If your card doesn't support 3D Secure, an error message will appear. Card processors may block Coinbase or cryptocurrency transactions entirely, which will prevent the card from being verified. This is determined by your card provider, not Coinbase. Please ask your card provider about their cryptocurrency policies. A card can only be linked to one Coinbase account at a time.

Important

Coinbase doesn’t support transactions from prepaid, reloadable, secured, or business cards.

How to add a card to your payment methods:

  1. Navigate to Profile & Settings (mobile) or Settings (browser).

  2. Select Add a payment method and choose Credit/Debit Card.

  3. Enter the information requested.

  4. Confirm by selecting Add Card.

If the card is of a supported type and has 3D Secure enabled, it should now be verified.

How to remove a card from your payment methods:

  1. Navigate to Profile & Settings (mobile) or Settings (browser).

  2. Select the Payment Methods section, and choose the card you wish to delete.

  3. Select Remove.

  2. Select Trade and choose Buy.

  3. Select the asset you wish to buy.

  4. Enter the amount and frequency for the purchase, select your card (for a one-time or recurring buy), and choose Preview Order.

  5. Confirm the order by selecting Buy Now.

How to withdraw funds using a card:

  1. Sign in to your Coinbase account.

  2. Select the My Assets tab and choose Withdraw.

  3. Choose your card, enter the amount you wish to withdraw, and select Preview.

  4. To confirm the transaction, select Withdraw Cash Now.

  3. Select Verify Your Bank.

    • Test deposits are sent and will arrive in your bank account in 1-3 business days.

  4. Once the deposits arrive, go to Payments methods and select Verify.

  5. Enter the cent portion of the deposit amounts.

  6. Your bank account will be verified when the correct amounts are entered.

If you don’t see the deposits, try these steps:

  • Check your upcoming or pending transactions in your online bank account.

  • Contact your bank to find any hidden or omitted details on your statement.

  • Restart the verification process. This will void the first pair of deposits.

Interac

Your deposit will show as canceled if it fails on your bank's end. Refunds usually process within a few business days. Contact your bank for refund timing and status.

There are a few bank and Interac settings you can check to ensure deposits to Coinbase are successful.

  • Confirm that your deposit does not exceed your bank's daily withdrawal limit

  • See if your bank has an allowlist for transfers and, if so, add support@coinbase.com

  • Check your Interac notification preferences. Follow the instructions in the email or text to allow or unblock requests from Coinbase.
