Base sign in options and troubleshooting

Sign in options

Use the option you’ve set up. Each option below includes a quick intro and steps.

Sign in with email one‑time passcode (OTP)

Use a short code sent to your email to decrease sign in time and effort.

To sign in with an email OTP:

  1. Open the Base app and select Sign in.

  2. Select Sign in with email, then enter your email address.

  3. Check your email and find the 6‑digit code.

  4. Enter the code to finish signing in. The code expires after a short time and can be used only once.

Use a recovery phrase or passkey

A recovery phrase (private) can be used to sign in if you have a Coinbase EOA wallet (legacy) or a passkey (syncable across devices) if you have a smart wallet.

To sign in with a passkey:

  1. Open the Base app and select Sign in.

  2. Choose More options.

  3. Select the passkey option.

  4. Follow the on‑screen steps to finish.

To sign in with a recovery phrase:

  1. Open the Base app and select Sign in.

  2. Choose More options.

  3. Select option to use a recovery phrase.

  4. Use the legacy app to continue signing into your existing legacy account. There will be a prompt to upgrade your wallet to access Base mode.

Troubleshooting

If sign-in doesn’t work, complete troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

If the email doesn’t arrive, confirm your details and try again.

To get your OTP email:

  2. Check spam and any filters that could block messages.

  4. Refresh the app.

  5. Wait for 30 seconds.

  6. Resend the OTP from the sign in screen.

Invalid or expired OTP

Codes are time‑limited and single‑use.

To fix an invalid OTP:

  1. Enter the code exactly as shown in the email.

  2. Wait for 30 seconds, then request a new code and use the latest email.

  3. Try signing in again after you receive the new code.
