Purchase and deposit completion times

Purchase and deposit completion times vary by region, asset type, and payment method.

Cash is funded through traditional banking rails, such as ACH transfers or wire deposits. These methods typically take 1–3 business days to settle.

See the payment method article for your region for details:

Coinbase aims to make cash available when payments clear, but delays may occur if:

  • Your bank conducts its own checks, which are outside of Coinbase’s control.

  • Your payment method requires you to authorize the transaction on your bank's website. If you don’t, it will expire and won’t process.

Purchase or deposit status for stocks and funds*

Stock and fund trades settle in one business day (Trade date +1, or ‘T+1’), unlike crypto trades which settle nearly instantly (T+0). Consequently, cash from selling stocks or funds is unavailable for withdrawal, transfer, or trading until the settlement period is complete.

Transfers and deposits from an external brokerage account are processed through the Automated Customer Account Transfer System (ACATS). Once the transfer is initiated, stocks, funds, and cash typically become available for trading within 3–5 business days, depending on the institution of origin.
