Set up a new Coinbase account in just a few minutes. This guide will walk you through creating an account, verifying your identity, adding a payment method, and setting up your 2-step verification.

Create an account
From a desktop browser, select the Sign up button on the Coinbase homepage.
Choose to create an Individual or Business account.
Enter your email address and select Continue.
Enter the verification code Coinbase sends to your email address.
Create a password and select Continue.
Enter your first and last name exactly as they appear on your government-issued ID and select Continue.
Enter your phone number to receive an SMS verification code and select Continue.
Enter the SMS verification code.
Confirm you're over 18 years old. We validate age as part of our identity verification process.
Select or confirm your country.
Enter the verification information requested (varies by country).
Make sure your information is correct and select Confirm.
Answer the personal information questions required by law.
Select Submit.

Verify your identity
Open the Document Verification page and select the document you’ll use to verify your identity.
Upload a high quality image of the document.
Provide any supporting information requested, such as a selfie or video.
Verification usually completes in minutes. If your verification fails, you can try again or try troubleshooting.
Once your identity has been verified, select Continue.
Tips for taking a high-quality image:
Photos should be fully lit with indirect lighting.
Make sure there’s no glare, and all parts of the ID are visible.
If the image is blurry, retake it carefully.

Buy crypto:
Select Buy on the Coinbase homepage.
Enter an amount to buy.
Select Pay with and choose or confirm your payment method.
Select Buy and choose or confirm the asset you’re buying.
Select Review order to confirm your purchase details.
If the details are correct, select Buy now to complete your purchase.
